I Took a Walk Today

He basically encouraged me to follow my dreams and to pursue whatever it is that I wanted to do, as long as it made me happy. He was afraid I’d go for something practical just to put my parents’ mind at ease, so he just wanted to reiterate his full support for me in “whatever you want to do” as long as it “makes you happy.” I think my dad realizes that I don’t have regular dreams and may be absolutely bonkers, but, since I’m still his son, it means I’m still entitled to unconditional love and support.
So, with that message in mind, I took a walk.
I like walks, but I don’t go on them that often. I really should make a habit of doing it, because I feel so disconnected from the world at times. I go out and the first thing I do is plug in my iPod if I’m alone, because even if I’m out in the world, I need to stay plugged into my own. My iPod’s like a portable comfort zone, a barrier of sound used to block out the outside world so I can stay within the familiar territory created by my music. So I unplugged, and I went for a walk. It was so refreshing to see life outside of a screen, which is odd inspiration for me, considering my goal is to be able to capture it and put it on the screen. Whatever it is, I’m glad that I went for a walk today because I’m ready to rejoin the world after my extended absence from it, I just hope I’m ready.
